After leaving Lakeland College, I worked my way up through the ranks to a manager of K-Mart stores in Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota until 1972. Then, I purchased my own Ben Franklin Variety and Craft Store, also a custom frame shop in Jackson, Minn., all of which I owned and operated until 1997. After a short retirement, I took on a job as motor-coach driver with Southwest Coaches, doing tours across the U.S., Alaska, and Canada for 11 years touring almost every state. My wife and I are now totally retired, living the winter months in Mesa, Ariz., and the summer months in Jackson, Minn. We love to travel, hike, downhill ski, play tennis, dance, entertain friends and family and spend time with our grandchildren.
