Eric Wruck '90

Well, my story starts with a discussion I had with a former co-worker back in 1986. I had my Associate of Science degree and wanted to find a program that I could attend evenings, since I was working full-time. He suggested that I look at Lakeland's Lifelong Learning program and it was the best decision I ever made. The faculty and staff at Lakeland really understood a working adult's busy life and they successfully guided me to a bachelor's degree in 1990.

Since then I have changed careers and am now a partner in a large insurance agency. I love being self-employed and Lakeland College prepared me well for the daily challenges of running a business and all the demands it entails.

I was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity for over 5 years, helping deserving individuals get their own homes. I am currently a member of the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center, whose mission is to open up the world of sailing to the greater Milwaukee community. I am also a volunteer keelboat instructor and help to teach people how to enjoy the wonderful sport of sailing.

I am most proud of my degree from Lakeland because it taught me to think critically, not just to pass tests. I met some wonderful fellow students and instructors during my time at Lakeland. I'll always be thankful for the opportunity to challenge myself and succeed! I don't think I could have been as successful without my degree from Lakeland College.
