I have many great memories of Lakeland. My favorite is meeting, dating and marrying my wife, Kathy (George) Allen '62. I loved playing football & (usually) winning. I also loved acting. I won Best Supporting Actor in Joan of Lorraine. (Kathy accepted the award for me as I was teaching in Necedah second semester.)
I remember the great teaching of Prof. Voight, professor of history, and forming many great Mu Lambda Sigma friendships.
I eventually became a high school teacher, primarily teaching Spanish. I also taught English, speech, drama, history and gifted students. In addition, I became coordinator of a high school foreign exchange student program. Kathy and I hosted 11 students ourselves and placed hundreds of international students in Kansas.
I am now retired and living in North Brunswick, New Jersey. I have three children and three grandchildren, all within an hour of me. I love life.
Lakeland started me well. I even proposed to Kathy in a nearby garbage dump. She said yes.
