I don't believe they do this anymore, but in the years gone by, if you missed curfew at the men's dorm, you had to shovel coal to heat the building. One of the tricks was to know someone on the first floor so they could let you in through the window. Since I was dating a girl in Sheboygan, who would later become my wife of 49 years, I was late more than once. And, sad to say, I got to shovel some coal during my college years at Lakeland. It was worth it.
