Rev. Joanne Graves '87

My favorite Lakeland memory was "starring" in the last play held in the "old" gymnasium (I fogot the name of it!) called "Close Ties" by Elizabeth Diggs. It was about an elderly woman who was coping with dementia and her family, all of whom lived in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts. I told JC Crawford that it was type casting, being as I am from western Massachusetts and I was an "older" student (23) when I started at Lakeland. I loved acting in my one and only play ever (so far). It was great preparation for being an ordained minister and the role of preacher. I remember when I finally "got" the scene when I was supposed to get angry. All the cast members turned around to watch, shock on their faces.
